Girdwood Chapel averages about 73 in worship at this time.  Our numbers go down in the winter (ski season) and summer (fish season) but are higher in the spring and fall.  That attendance is for two services on Sunday morning.  We have services at 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM, although we start 10 minutes late at both of them.

We have an interesting mix of folks who attend.  We've said that we are "A United Methodist Church with an Ecumenical Congregation."  The problem with this phrase is that a lot of people don't know that ecumenical means "denominationally diverse."  So we've now been saying that we are "A United Methodist Church -- A Diverse Community of Faith."   It doesn't say exactly what we mean, but it's close enough.  It's even what our sign says.

We tend to be a pretty young church with young families and quite a few young children on a Sunday morning.  It can be loud during worship.  When children "act up" there's no other room to go to at theA Children's Time in Worship

present.  And, frankly, our congregation tends to appreciate the noise that children bring.  It says we're alive.  It says that children are not just our future but our present.
